Editor’s Foreword
The scientific journal “Issues in Linguistics” is an important periodical that publishes works on theoretical, comparative, and applied linguistics, Kartvelology (Kartvelian studies), Oriental studies, Caucasiology (Caucasian studies), Western European philology, and the history of linguistics. The members of the journal’s editorial board are representatives of the philological department within the Faculty of Humanities, while the editorial council consists of prominent Georgian and foreign linguists. “Issues in Linguistics” has been published at the Faculty of Humanities, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University since 1999. Since 2007, the journal has been published in a new format and with an expanded thematic scope by Tbilisi State University Press. During this period, 17 issues have been published, which are available on the publishing house’s website. The 2025 issue of “Issues in Linguistics” (2025, No. 18, 145 pages) is notable for the thematic diversity of its articles and is dedicated to the problems of phraseology, Kartvelian languages, phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, etymology, lexicology, contrastive linguistic analysis, the deciphering of linear scripts, and dialectology.
