The representations of musical and dance performances around statues allow us not only to explore the mythical, cultic, and historical contexts within which they were performed, but also their relationship with local cults and ceremonies. Taking into account visual evidence from Magna Graecia, this paper aims to take an interdisciplinary “big picture” approach, as opposed to a micro-focus on organology.Downloads
